The Deschutes River is Oregon’s most popular whitewater rafting destination, and for good reason! Immense basalt cliffs stretch towards sunny skies, the scent of sagebrush and sun-baked blackberries is carried through the canyon on warm air, and osprey soar above the rimrock while you splash your way down the river.
The Deschutes River is ideal for families and first-time rafters, and is an exciting and enjoyable run for the more seasoned rafter. Our professional and knowledgeable guides will deliver a unique and memorable adventure that is just right for your crew. Guided half day, full day and overnight trips are available.

We leave from our Maupin office at 10am, and after a short drive to the put-in we hit the water! Soon after launching we encounter the famous Wapinitia and Boxcar rapids, perfecting your paddling and “yee-haws” as we go. All that fun works up an appetite, so we will be good and ready to pull over in Maupin for lunch, where our crew serves up a delicious meal hot off the grill!
The rafting highlight of the afternoon is running Oak Springs rapid, along with many others that are sure to thrill you. Then we either stop for side hike up the White River to experience natural water slides or do a short portage around the impressive Sherars Falls before continuing on for another scenic section of rafting.
Don’t be surprised if your guide includes some “unscheduled” stops. There is plenty of time for swimming, rock jumping, picking blackberries from the raft and surfing a wave. You’ll be back at our office around 4 pm where we have changing rooms available for our guests. Dietary restrictions? Just let us know! We can accommodate most requests.
