Deschutes 5 Day Itinerary

DESCHUTES FIVE DAY TRIP: WARM SPRINGS TO HERITAGE LANDING

On this trip we run the Lower Deschutes from the Warm Springs boat launch to the Heritage Landing take out near the Columbia River. The run is approximately 100 miles long and includes Trout Creek, White Horse, Buckskin Mary, Four Chutes, as well as Wapinitia, Box Car,Oak Springs, Elevator Rapids, Colorado and Washout rapids. In camp, the All Star staff takes care of all the cooking and cleaning, all you have to do is enjoy the view!  Our meals are healthy and delicious, and our expert guides ensure that your group has a wonderful camping/rafting experience in this beautiful desert canyon.

DAY 1: We meet at the All Star office in Maupin at 9:00 am (many groups arrive the night before and stay at a local camp ground or lodge), load personal gear into dry bags and take care of last minute details. The day begins with a one hour ride to the put in, an orientation talk and an introduction to boating skills. We travel approximately 12 miles the first day with a stop for lunch, about 3 hours total on the water. Camp is along the river where we enjoy a fine dinner and zillions of stars!  We encourage you to bring a small musical instrument or game for the whole group to play.

DAY 2-5: Hearty breakfasts and relaxing mornings in camp are followed by full days of fun and great scenery (we travel approximately 20 miles each day). You’ll have the opportunity to swim and water fight or try out one of the inflatable kayaks. Camps are along the river each night. We make time for hiking in the side canyons or up to scenic vistas, rock jumping or body whomping down through the rapids! On day 3 we pass through the small town of Maupin where we re-supply and do a quick portage around the awesome class 6 Sherars Falls, then put back on the river to continue on our journey to the mouth of the Deschutes!
